About Pet and Equine Insurance Association

The Pet and Equine Insurance Association (PEIA) is a UK-based, not-for-profit membership body representing the full ecosystem of those involved in insuring the nation’s pets and horses. Formed in 2024, PEIA brings together insurers, Managing General Agents (MGAs), brokers, claims specialists, and service providers to build a fair, transparent, and sustainable insurance market. We promote responsible collaboration, advocate for ethical practices, and work to strengthen both consumer trust and animal welfare through industry-led leadership. We engage across the entire value chain to tackle shared challenges, including rising veterinary costs, liability pressures, regulatory changes, and evolving customer expectations, while supporting long-term market viability and affordability. The association is currently governed by a cross-sector Steering Group and supported by dedicated working groups that tackle specific market issues, from claims trends to equine liability. PEIA provides a trusted, neutral space for stakeholders to shape policy, share data-driven insight, and speak with one voice on matters of shared importance.
