The Need: Each day in North Carolina, 35 imprisoned women are deciding whether to trust their baby to the environment they grew up in or to foster care, risking their parental rights. The Mission: To equip fragile families to nurture their children into self-respecting and contributing adults, and to help break the generational cycle of weak family structure by teaching and modeling loving and engaged parenting. Our Solution: To raise babies born to inmates until their mothers are released and then equip the mothers with the life skills they need to thrive independently and successfully in the world with their family. This innovative approach lets us leverage the parent-child bond and reach two generations at once to help them change their life stories. Our Namesake: As in the biblical redemptive story of Moses, Pharaoh’s Daughter provides an opportunity for us to come alongside as God steps in to bring these children an alternate childhood and empowers them and their mothers to be people with a choice. The Calling: Pharaoh’s Daughter is in the early stages of preparing a place for these children and their mothers. We are looking for others — individuals, neighboring churches, companies, and the community at large — to partner with us to give Mom a better choice for her and Baby.
