About PhenoRoot
PhenoRoot Ltd. is an agricultural company that provides analysis services for soil-grown plant root systems (root phenotyping). We intend to provide our customers with our phenotyping platform for operation on the customer's premises. PhenoRoot's customer base includes leading seed and agrochemical companies and research institutes. Plant roots play a central role in plant growth, health, and yield. Despite their paramount importance, roots still present untapped potential for crop improvement. The absence of efficient methods to measure roots in opaque soils is an obstacle to fully leveraging root traits for breeding new stress-tolerant crop varieties. It hinders the development of more efficient agrochemicals for crop protection and growth stimulation. Current medical-based phenotyping technologies (MRI, X-ray, and CT) are expensive and impractical for field measurements. Other existing field phenotyping methods are low-throughput and labor-intensive, and measuring roots in transparent mediums fails to mimic natural conditions. Our phenotyping platform provides opportunities to prioritize roots as a target for crop breeding and agrochemical development. It facilitates the identification of new genetic variability for integration into new crops and advances the screening of novel agrochemicals with higher safety and efficacy.
