About Philadelphia University
Thomas Jefferson University was founded in 1824 as Jefferson Medical College, and Philadelphia University was founded in 1884 as the Philadelphia Textile School. Both were ahead of their time and focused on the importance of experiential learning. The new Jefferson was established on July 1, 2017 as a result of the merger of these two renowned universities. Today, Jefferson is a model professions-focused, national doctoral university with a global footprint. More than 8.400 students attend Jefferson on the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels in more than 200 academic programs in architecture, business, design, fashion, engineering, health, medicine, nursing, science, social sciences and textiles. Our distinctive approach to teaching and learning, Nexus Learning, is preparing students for the future of work.
