About Philip Dunbavin Acoustics
Philip Dunbavin Acoustics was formed in 1988 as an independent acoustic consultancy, providing expert analysis, advice and design in all areas of noise and vibration. PDA’s consulting engineers have considerable experience in all aspects of acoustics and are therefore able to offer a comprehensive service, including analysis, initial design work, problem solving and troubleshooting. All design and analysis is undertaken using state-of-the-art technology to provide tailored solutions for our clients. As independent consultants, PDA has nothing to sell but time and expertise. All clients can be sure that only the most cost-effective and practical solutions are specified for their particular problem. PDA was created to become one of the foremost and technically excellent consultancy practices in acoustics, sound insulation, vibration and noise control. Phil Dunbavin is the company’s founder, Chairman and and CEO. He is the chairman of the BSI Committee EH/1/3 which is responsible for all standards in the environmental sound arena. He is also involved with standardisation at the international level and sits on many ISO Committees and Working Groups. As Chairman of the BSI EH/1 over arching committee on acoustics he represents the UK at the several plenary meetings of the International Standards Organisation. In the field of Architectural acoustics he, along with Professor Sean Smith of Edinburgh Napier University, sat on the steering group of the HBF's Robust Standard Detail research project. This lead to the creation of Robust Details which was a revolution in achieving Building Regulation levels of domestic sound insulation and beyond in over 99% of all residential attached dwellings built since 2003. More recently he has taken on the role of convener of ISO/TC43 Working Group 54 which is developing the Soundscape standards. It is this determination to lead from the front that has marked out PDA's path towards achieving excellence for their customers.
