Leaving a successful career in Neuro Genetics and graduating from Imperial College, Cemal followed his lifelong passion in horticulture and art to set up his floral design company, Phillo. Established in 2003, the Phillo ‘bug’ quickly disseminated throughout London with a varied clientele in both the corporate and private fields. Flowers and plants are supplied to a number of fashion houses, cosmetics companies, private residences and many businesses throughout London. The Phillo team are an incredibly meticulous bunch of innovative floral stylists and landscape gardeners whose expert knowledge in floral design, horticulture and the cut flower industry will capture your interest the moment you step into the store. Sharing the shop are Phillo’s brightly coloured, chirpy and charismatic parrots that spend their day among the foliage chatting to customers and adding a certain sub-tropical glamour to the environment! Cemal is highly passionate about all things floral and it is not unusual for one to walk into the store in spring for it to be filled with every type of blossom imaginable or a display of his personal Auricula collection to be on show. Once, the store was transformed into an exhibition space housing over seven thousand tulips in over 100 named varieties, he called it ‘Tulip mania’ and that it certainly was!
