About Phoenix Energy Community

Phoenix Energy Community was incorporated as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in October 2024. The group formed in 2023, joining together members of local environmental groups: Thame Green Living, Green Crendon, and Zero Carbon Haddenham. Embracing the collaborative nature of community energy initiatives across the country, each of the three groups saw the benefits of joining together to work on energy projects, enabling resources to be pooled, knowledge shared and potential funding opportunities explored on a larger scale than any of the groups could do individually. The Phoenix 2035 vision is for everyone in our communities to have an energy efficient home, and all organisations have energy efficient buildings, powered by fully renewable resources. The vision is fully aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 - with its aim to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. To deliver this vision, Phoenix projects will focus on: - POWERING UP: building a resilient supply of locally generated renewable energy - POWERING DOWN: collaborating on retrofit solutions and engaging and informing the community about efficient energy solutions. All the group’s activities will be underpinned by principles of energy justice, affordability and collaboration.
