About Phoenix Healthcare Foundation

The Foundation seeks to make a difference in the availability and quality of primary healthcare services in Miami-Dade County. We are dedicated to implement effective solutions in order eliminate the existing economic and racial disparities in the delivery of these services by bridging the gap between the healthcare needs of the indigent population and the inability of local medical institutions to respond to those needs. We recognize that the proposed healthcare reform is an important change agent in the effort to improve the US health care delivery system, but believe that the quality of service will continue to be compromised because the reforms will not address the lack of sufficient local community-based resources. This problem will continue to be aggravated by the absence of incentives for private healthcare providers to practice in underserved communities. As a result, the Foundation has made the commitment to provide financial aid to those suffering from HIV who lack the means to meet their medical needs. The Foundation will also provide scholarships to outstanding University of Miami MBA students who, as part of their coursework will develop and implement AIDS educational programs in the underserved population of Miami Dade in order to reduce the incidence of HIV.
