About Pi Kids Incorporated

We have started a nonprofit organization (501(c)(3) - approved on July 2nd, 2022) called Pi Kids Inc. with a team of high school volunteers. We are working on a project organizing community outreach events to spread the STEM awareness in underprivileged areas to bridge the Educational Equity Gap in US. I feel the STEM resources are very limited in certain areas. We are hosting Raspberry Pi workshops and teaching how to assemble small computers in libraries and schools in underprivileged areas where technology resources are limited. This is a 100% volunteering program, and the program is totally free of cost for the students, schools, and libraries. We want to encourage students from those areas to gain interest in technologies through some fun activities like assembling Raspberry Pi and coding for video games. Introducing a single board computer like Raspberry Pi to elementary and middle school students can bring more opportunities and help address the global issues like Education Gap, income inequality and workforce displacement. We have already hosted our Raspberry Pi program in more than 7 libraries in Bay area around Oakland, CA and few areas in New York. We are continuing our fall and winter sessions in more locations, hosting Pi Hacks (organizing hackathons on Raspberry Pi) to encourage students to participate and learn. We believe our Pi Kids volunteering program will motivate more students in technology in the future and bridge some gap in education resources. We believe in ‘Start small, Dream Big’.
