The American Alzheimer's Association estimates nearly 5.7million people in the US currently battle with Alzheimer's, given the increasingly aging population that number is set to double to 14.7million by 2050. Balancing the prohibitive costs and the emotional toll of putting a parent or spouse in an assisted living facility against the safety of 24/7 care, is a constant source of stress for family members. Grossly underserved and overcharged customers of our competitors have become increasingly dissatisfied with their current options. Leveraging cellular data, Bluetooth and GPS, Piece of Mind is a wearable solution designed to reduce the risks and emotional stress associated with caring for a loved one who wanders. Utilizing the Apple Watch, Piece of Mind allows caregivers to set a triple strength geo-fence, alerting caregivers when a loved with Alzheimer's has started to wander. Currently running on iOS and watchOS, our team anticipates expansion to Android-based devices within the year. Working with police Alzheimers response units, caregivers, and patients we have designed and are currently testing integrated geo-fencing technology combined with a network alert system.
