About Pine Lake Preparatory
Pine Lake Preparatory (PLP) is a tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter school serving kindergarten through 12th grade, located 30 minutes north of Charlotte in southern Iredell County. With over 1,800 students from ten surrounding counties, PLP has established itself as an academic leader among North Carolina charter schools. Founded in 2006 and accredited by the North Carolina State Board of Education, PLP has consistently ranked as a US News and World Report Top High School, Middle School and Elementary School. Guided by our core values of Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Drive to Excellence, and Empathy, PLP requires Upper School students to complete 40 hours of community service per year, totaling a minimum of 160 hours for graduation. We offer a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum focused on critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, with instruction in the Arts, Spanish, and STEM beginning in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Graduates from PLP have been accepted to top universities nationwide, including MIT, University of Pennsylvania, Duke, University of Michigan, UNC Chapel Hill, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, West Point, Wake Forest, Colorado School of Mines, Carnegie Mellon, Vanderbilt, and the United States Naval Academy, among others.
