Pivotree is a Western Australian start-up commercialising the Pivotree Small Oilfield Production System, which creates a step-change in small field development and production economics to unlock stranded oilfield assets. The system combines novel patent-pending components with conventional subsea oil and gas equipment, eliminating the need for conventional oilfield infrastructure or access to a subsea pipeline, and the need for significant structural changes to the off-take vessel. Operating expense is reduced by reduced fuel, consumables and labour costs, and creating flexibility in the production process. The result is a 50-70% reduction in CAPEX and OPEX requirements for a field development. Importantly the Pivotree system decreases the time from drilling to production, which greatly improves the net present value for such investments. Designed for the low oil-price environment, this novel system unlocks stranded small oil fields around the globe with reserves of less than 25MMbbls that are more than 10kms from export infrastructure and in 150m to 600m of water. This value proposition can be applied to unlock: 1. fully stranded assets that cannot justify full field development; 2. marginal or partially stranded assets that are too remote for tie-back to existing infrastructure; and 3. capturing remaining value in ageing assets where the asset has useful life but the cost of additional tie-backs exceed the total revenue expected. Using independent market research data, the Company has identified 271 oilfields with reported reserves of over 2.75 billion barrels of oil that fit the target market profile in just seven low-risk countries. The key inventions underpinning the system are subject to patent applications and the Company continues to build its intellectual property portfolio and position through its research and development program.
