About Place To Be Me

Children's Dispensary & Hospital Association, Inc. began in 1909 as a free dispensary to serve the needs of undernourished children in South Bend. With the support of the community, both financially and through volunteerism, Children's Dispensary expanded its services to include medical care for children. In 1976, the organization shifted focus to provide educational, social and recreational programs for individuals with learning, developmental, and/or physical disabilities. Now, in its 116th year, the organization's services continue to evolve to meet the community's needs. Known today as, Place to Be Me, we believe all individuals are entitled to full life experiences. Our mission is to enhance learning and enrich the lives of individuals with special needs through a variety of inclusive programs designed to support each person’s emotional, physical, and social well-being.
