About Plan the Path

Plan the Path supports your family with strategic decision-making on where to apply, editorial support for all application materials, and hands-on management of the entire process. We work with traditional high school students (and college transfer students), students with learning disabilities, and students in therapeutic programs. We also advise on postsecondary placement (including gap years), and we consult on educational crisis management for both high school and college students. Applying to college is a multi-step process that involves many decisions, both emotional and logistical. The major milestones in our work together include: deciding where to apply, writing your personal statement and supplemental essays, submitting final applications, and — eventually — celebrating admissions decisions. The values we bring to our work: Curiosity We are curious about who each student is, not just academically but as a whole person. We want to learn about what matters most to you and what makes you tick. Understanding We make it our task to fully comprehend our students’ desires, strengths, and challenges. Advocacy We are here to champion you, your passions and your aspirations. Our job is to help you articulate who you are and what you’ll bring to a college community. We provide a comprehensive assessment of the college landscape that helps students and families set realistic expectations for achieving successful outcomes. Integrity Personal and academic integrity is fundamental to our work, and we ask students to approach this process with the same transparency and sincerity as we do. Autonomy and Agency We believe that establishing clear timelines and expectations (and supporting students to achieve them), helps prepare students to take up the responsibilities that characterize college.
