About Planetree

Since our founding in 1978 by a patient who had experienced a difficult patient care experience, Planetree has worked with hospitals, long-term care, and ambulatory care settings around the world to develop comprehensive patient and family centered models of care focused on kindness, caring, and respect. Planetree provides education, resources, and information to healthcare organizations. We nurture and support efforts to advance remarkable experiences for patients and staff in patient-centered healing environments. As a global catalyst and leader, we promote the development and implementation of innovative models of healthcare that focus on healing and nurturing body, mind, and spirit and have sought to focus our efforts around three important areas: Advocacy Standard Setting Coaching As advocates, we encourage and facilitate the adoption and growth of a healthcare experience that considers the comfort, dignity, and wellbeing of those both providing and receiving care. As the industry leader, we look to define and uphold the highest standards in patient experience by working with and recognizing the industry's top performing patient-centered organizations. As coaches, we have developed a proven set of processes, resources, and the collaborative support required to help organizations inspire and enable caregivers to transform the healthcare experience. Over the past 34 years, in working across the healthcare continuum, we have consistently found that to fully realize the potential and power of person-centered care it is critical to engage both the individual and the organization in their unique vision of what is important and possible.
