About Planting Shade
Planting Shade is an international nonprofit based in Virginia Beach, VA. Planting Shade started after Hurricane Florence decimated the East Coast and our founders saw a need for local centralized change. With the original goal of planting 1,000 seedlings, We have been able to plant over 2,000 in the first year and are hoping to plant 20,000 in 2021. Planting Shade currently has chapters from coast to coast and throughout the world, including in Virginia, Maryland, New York, California, and Melbourne, Australia.
