PLANTNER has achieved localization of alginate material, which was previously over 95% dependent on imports for various applications in Korea, by extracting it from domestic seaweed - particularly underutilized brown algae - through our proprietary eco-friendly process. This not only enables domestic production but also creates utilization pathways for seaweed byproducts. Through our jointly developed eco-friendly process with Seoul National University's Institute of Chemical Process, we have streamlined production by eliminating unnecessary steps, reducing waste generation, challenging net-zero goals while securing price competitiveness. This alginate material offers tunable viscosity through its material properties while being both vegan/halal-certified and hypoallergenic, making it suitable as a base material for various bio compatible applications in pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics. We are further advancing material refinement in collaboration with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute to enhance its property control capabilities. Furthermore, by utilizing these material properties to achieve controlled-release characteristics, we have developed specialized natural fertilizers capable of supplying precise amounts of nutrients when needed. While recent eco-friendly R&D efforts focused on improving biodegradable plastics still relied on synthetic polymers, we aim to completely replace them with natural alternatives to achieve true environmental innovation. Our material serves as both a functional polymer and a nutrient-rich organic compound that enhances agricultural productivity while restoring soil quality, contributing to sustainable agricultural environments.
