About Plasser Australia Pty
Plasser Australia is a member of the Plasser & Theurer group of companies. The company was incorporated and commenced manufacture of railway machinery in Australia in 1970. The decision to locate the Australian manufacturing facility in Sydney was clearly in recognition of the importance of servicing the New South Wales railways, our largest customer and user of Plasser equipment. Having manufactured and supplied some 600 pieces of equipment for the Australian and New Zealand railway networks since 1970, a long and mutually beneficial relationship clearly exists between Plasser and the various Government and private rail organisations. Since the very beginning of mechanised track maintenance, Plasser & Theurer has been at the forefront of technical developments, many of which have been in direct response to the ever-increasing demands by our customers for greater productivity, improved safety, higher quality of work and reduced costs. The strength of our organisation lies in the on-going focus on technical development. As a result, we have the capacity and vast resources to provide cost-effective solutions to all manner of permanent way maintenance problems. Plasser & Theurer’s long association with the rail industry in Australia commenced in the early 1960’s when mechanised maintenance was first introduced to the New South Wales and Queensland Government-owned railways as well as the private mining railroads of the Pilbara region of Western Australia. In 1980, the company moved to its present location at North St. Marys, with rail siding access to the New South Wales standard gauge rail network. The modern workshops were specially designed for the manufacture and after sales support of all machines in the Plasser range. All three gauges of the Australian mainline systems (i.e. 1067, 1435 and 1600 mm), are cast into the factory floor, although machines of other, smaller gauges are also manufactured.
