About Plastic@Bay

P@B was co-founded by Julien and Joan, we both have an academic background in geosciences, and share a love for the nature especially the oceans. We officially became a Community Interest Company in January 2018. During the Summer of 2018 Roz joined the gang as a director. In March 2019, our coastal Rangers started patrolling and cleaning beaches around Durness. We have developed unique low-tech methods to recycle ocean plastics. In 2020, we have developed a citizen science portal to help beach cleaner to record their work. Joan received a Innovate UK women in innovation award in 2021 to develop an affordable recycling system available to all the coastal communities in Scotland. We aim to fight plastic pollution all over Scotland by empowering local communities.
