Plethys addresses a big problem for smartwatches that can impact any users, and is especially helpful for users with tattoos, darker skin tone, obesity, dense or dark body hair, and/or biological issues pertaining to blood flow. These users have physical characteristics that obstructs or totally prevents the device's photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor from completing a signal. Without our product, users will have extremely limited biometric information readily available to them. This typically results in the inability to track one's sleep, workouts, fitness levels, heart rate, stress levels, illness detection, and more. The problem also affects the enablement of critical security features and mobile payments. Any user can experience this problem if their watch is not worn tightly and susceptible to ambient light leaks and light interference. Plethys resolves the fundamental issues for PPG heart rates sensors through an affordable, seamless, non-hardware-based, integrated solution by generating optical light tunnels that brings the sensor lights closer to the skin and maximize connectivity. Smartwatch technology is engineered for the general population. But it simply does not work for everyone. Our patent-pending products solve this problem by implementing an optical lens light guide that attaches to the back of a user's smartwatch, between the flawed PPG heart rate sensor and the user's skin. Current research shows that a conservative estimate of over 11,500,000 smartwatch users are suffering from this problem today, which only increases over time with an estimated 9% CAGR through 2030. No other solutions for this user base exist today aside from buying another expensive tech device (i.e., smart rings, HR chest straps, smart bands) for a different placement of a secondary sensor, which is also prone to data synchronization issues. Plethys is expected to fully launch by the end of 2024 through Amazon and our direct e-commerce platform.
