About PNN TV Cambodia
Cambodia’s biggest ever TV studio complex is due to open in the 2nd quarter of 2015. The studio, which is located at Garden City in Phum Prek Ta Rat, Sangkat Prek Ta Sek, Khan Chroy Changvar, on the outskirts of Phnom Penh belongs to Cambodia’s newest and most modern TV channel PNN. The complex is expected to be operational from April onwards when more than 300 staff will work producing TV programs and content. Built at a cost of more than USD $10 million, the complex will consist of 5 studios measuring 2500 square metres, 1200 square metres, 500 square metres, 300 square metres and 200 square metres respectively. A further USD $10 million dollars is being spent on equipment. “It is a significant investment that is expected to take broadcasting in Cambodia to the next level,” says PNN Managing Director Glen Felgate. “The studios and facilities are being built with local production in mind. There will also be significant nationwide coverage.” PNN, which is owned by the LYP Group, is a terrestrial channel that is aimed at the mass market. Over 50% of the schedule will be locally produced. Programs are expected to include ‘homegrown’ game shows, variety shows and talk shows as well as news. Bought-in programing will be sourced from TV stations from across the Asia region. “We have conducted research that shows that Cambodians’ lifestyles are changing and we are building a schedule to reflect that,” adds Felgate. “PNN will offer something different to what is already on air here in Cambodia.”
