About PodShare

Membership based live/work communities - purchase a 12 or 24 hour access pass to PodShare and obtain access to all of our locations for the duration of your stay. PodShare is a social network with physical addresses with pods, co-working spaces, food/drinks, showers, lockers, bicycles, and new friends. Demographics: 87% of Podestrians are solo travelers, 19% are return guests, and we maintain a 94% occupancy. Travelers, Transitioners (moving to the city apartment hunting), and Temps (in town for pilot season, internships or jobs). Community: 17 people have gotten a tattoo of our logo, and members receive a Podestrian number and a profile @ http://thepodshare.com/podestrians Design: The "Pods" are a re-design of the American bunk bed. Instead of a ladder, we build stairways. The rickety top bed is no longer an inconvenience for the bottom. Surrounding the mattresses is ample space for belongings, hangers and shelves. Amenities include a personal TV, night light, outlets with USB, and a memory foam mattress. The floor plan is dormitory style, community without walls or curtains for privacy with Podestrian's names written above or below. Social Impact: For $40-50/night or $250/week PodShare offers affordable housing (including utilities, laundry, food, toiletries and 24hr keypad access), and is a model of adaptive re-use of space in commercial buildings that otherwise had single to no residential occupancy (by using air space to double up on occupancy and shared amenities). Expansion: Just like your favorite coffee shop, PodShare will expand across Los Angeles and then the state to offer "access points" with live/work pods, but also DIY amenities like a green screen, soundbooth with podcast equipment, instruments, bikes, printers and productions equipment for an affordable price.
