About POLBIONICA

Polbionica is an innovative biotechnology company developing breakthrough 3D bioprinting technologies for organs and tissue models. We specialize in creating functional biological structures that could one day replace damaged organs — with a special focus on therapies for type 1 diabetes. We originated as a spin-off of the Foundation for Research and Science Development, whose team was the first in the world to 3D bioprint a fully vascularized bionic pancreas prototype in 2019. Today, we continue this pioneering work in collaboration with the Foundation and Bionic Consortium — an international group of bioprinting leaders. Our in-house R&D efforts focus on developing next-generation bioprinting platforms, designing biomaterials, and producing custom bioinks tailored to specific tissue types. We are also developing recombinant proteins and the FlowCulture bioreactor — a proprietary system for dynamic tissue cultivation, enabling more natural maturation and differentiation of printed structures. Our multidisciplinary team includes experts in biology, biomedical engineering, IT, and clinical medicine, working together in a cutting-edge laboratory environment. We operate in a deep tech model, creating high-barrier, IP-protected solutions with strong global potential. Our projects are funded through grants (e.g., NCBR, Horizon Europe) and private investors who support the future of regenerative medicine. We believe 3D bioprinting is the future of healthcare — and we're building that future today.
