About PoliMi Sailing Team
PoliMi Sailing Team is the student group of Politecnico di Milano composed by undergraduates coming from all the different fields of engineering and design, that thrive for putting their expertise and passion for sailing in a challenging extracurricular project. Born in 2007, PoliMi Sailing Team is currently one of the most competitive contenders of the Foiling Sustainable Moth Challenge: an international competition inspired by the need of more sustainable and efficient sailboat designs and manufacturing methods, which ultimate goal is to combine sustainable and safety prerogatives with breath-taking performances and extreme emotions that can only be delivered by flying on the water! In particular, the team is responsible for the design, manufacturing and tests of an innovative and sustainable Moth prototype able to reach speeds up to 40 knots having the higher level of control possible; and yes, it’s even harder than what it looks like. All of this is possible only thanks to the support that Politecnico di Milano University is providing, especially in its Design branch and to the more than 80 girls and boys that, dreaming of the America’s Cup, are putting daylily their energy and passion in such a challenging project.
