About Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program
Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program equip girls with communication and career readiness skills to pursue leadership roles at home, school, and the future workplace. We seek to eliminate the "hope gap" experienced by many girls of color in Chicago who are navigating violence in their communities and structural barriers to supportive services, education, and employment opportunities. We are training the future leadership of corporate America, the nonprofit sector, and the civic sector. In partnership with local and national businesses, we provide workplace job shadows, mock interviews, financial education, and mentoring with a network of industry leaders. We introduce girls to career opportunities in a variety of fields, including construction, manufacturing, engineering, retail, business, technology, and more. Polished Pebbles is the only mentoring program or youth job readiness program in Chicago that can boast of our talent pipeline that starts in elementary school and accelerates through college or post-secondary training, all underpinned by our proprietary anti-violence, social emotional, and communications focused mentoring.
