About Polygreen
A sustainable alternative to commonly used super absorbent materials. Plastic is an affordable & versatile multi-usage material, and its popularity has resulted in a global environmental crisis. In hygiene products (baby & adult diaper & feminine care), which make up a substantial proportion of plastic waste, there are two main types of plastic components; packaging in form of nonwoven fabric (with existing green alternatives) and super absorbent materials. Super Absorbent Polymers (SAPs) comprise the functional absorbent component of more than 650 billion disposable personal hygiene products that are consumed in Europe annually and find application in additional high-volume markets where absorbent properties are desirable. Despite their otherwise ideal properties, SAPs represent a global environmental disaster as they are not biodegradable and represent a large proportion of the plastic waste that is disposed and exported from EU of in landfill worldwide. Polygreen have developed and patented a novel comprehensive solution to the problem using environmental SAP (eSAP). This ground-breaking proprietary super absorbent material is 100% biodegradable and 100% biocompatible and is the first and only superabsorbent material that meets the industry absorbent requirements, serving a global unmet market need, enabling the creation of the first ever fully biodegradable diaper for mass production. The company aims to first introduce eSAP to the hygiene market and expand into the agricultural and medical/pharmaceutical segments where there is also a substantial unmet need for super absorbent materials.
