Pono Home is a turnkey franchise opportunity for sustainability-oriented aspiring entrepreneurs around the world. Pono Home offers a 1-2 hour service in residential and small business applications, doing a comprehensive sustainability audit. The Pono Home difference is that, in that time, we actually make changes on the spot. Instead of just educating people about how to install a smart strip or an insulation blanket on their hot water heater, we just go ahead and install them for people.We've consistently seen a 2-6 month payback period for people to recoup their money with energy and water savings. We have one large commercial contract to do military homes across Hawaii (Navy and Marines), and another to do public housing and low income work. Pono Home was selected as one of 14 startups with the best potential to reduce Hawaii's dependence on foreign oil in 2014's Energy Excelerator Go-To-Market cohort, with $100,000 in funding. It was chosen for the next round of the Energy Excelerator in 2016 (the Demonstration Track), which comes with up to $1M in matching funding for projects in Hawaii, as well as connections, mentorship and office space. For this program, we've gotten commitments for matching funding for a couple of projects from Hawaii Energy and others.
