About Pop Family Entertainment

Pop Family Entertainment is a multi-genre production and financing company founded by Carmel Travers in 2018. Most recently, the company has completed the feature film The Correspondent - A political thriller based on the true story of acclaimed war correspondent, Peter Greste who was arrested and imprisoned in Cairo in 2013. Starring multi award winner Richard Roxburgh, and directed by Kriv Stenders, The Correspondent is slated for release in cinemas worldwide in early 2025. Selected as Opening Night film in the Adelaide International Film Festival in October, 2024, The Correspondent played to sold-out audiences with the multiple screenings receiving standing ovations. The film has been selected for the prestigious Palm Springs International Film Festival in January and was also selected for screening at the Australian International Movie Convention in Gold Coast on November 24, where it was described by the industry bible B T Magazine as “one of the most anticipated films for 2025”! In 2024, Pop also completed its newest CGI animated family film, My Freaky Family which premiered at multiple screenings at Sydney Film Festival and opened to cinema audiences across Australia in October. Starring Evanna Lynch (from The Harry Potter movies), Ardal O’Hanlon, Miranda Otto, Richard Roxburgh and Ed Byrne. Pop has produced multiple children's and family projects including Alien TV, a 78-episode hybrid comedy animated series which premiered globally on Netflix rising to the top ten shows on their Australian platform. At the Asian Animation Summit, “Best In Show” was awarded to Pop’s comedy series; Escape From Pirate Asylum, and its preschool series Sydney Sailboat and Bubble Bath Bay, are now being adapted into a feature length production. New theatrical projects will be announced soon.
