About Portland Media Center

PMC was founded in 1986 by the University of Southern Maine, Maine Medical Center and the City of Portland as a cooperative for local nonprofit organizations to access local media through a regional cable channel and to bridge the digital divide for low income and disadvantage segments of our community. Portland Media Center's mission is to support, strengthen, and enrich community in Portland, Maine and to assist its citizens and institutions in realizing their greatest potential through public access to electronic communications media. We provide video production equipment training to any resident regardless of economic status. We also provide access to two television stations that cover Portland and the greater Portland area. All our programs are available on demand on our website portlandmedia.org. As an organization with over 40 nonprofit members, PMC also helps to advance their missions in the community through television programs and Internet presence.
