About Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary
Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose goal is to rehabilitate orphaned or injured wild animals and release them back into their native populations. Much of the wildlife that arrives at the sanctuary is the result a direct conflict with humans; such as being hit by cars, attacked by cats/dogs, or being taken away from their parents by well-meaning, but unknowing humans. Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary specializes in the rehabilitation, care, and treatment of small mammals, songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds, and reptiles. Some of the Sanctuary's services are, but not limited to: •Orphan care for babies. Often these babies are separated from their parents during storms or by domestic pets. •Educational programs These Programs are offered to schools, youth groups, civic groups, and libraries. The programs can be tailored to native local wildlife, ecology, environment, natural resources, or backyard habitat creation. •A Learning Center This is available to provide experience with hands-on rehabilitation for new rehabilitators, or those interested in earning their mandatory hours of experience & training for a variety of permits/licenses. •A permanent home to non-releasable animals. •Placement of adoptable domestic animals when available. Possumwood Acres welcomes any and all community involvement from a single visit to actively volunteering. You can support the sanctuary through donations or shopping for our exclusively designed gifts and apparel at our online stores. If you would like to learn more about Possumwood Acres’ mission and programs, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you to the Possumwood Acres Family.
