About Postgraduate Society HSU

Welcome to the Postgraduate Society! The Postgraduate Society is a student-led, university-wide academic community for Master’s and Doctoral students. Bringing together researchers from all three colleges - Business, Technology and Engineering, Social Sciences and Arts, and Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences, we provide a welcoming and safe space to connect, collaborate, and grow both academically and socially. A central value of our society is to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every researcher feels welcome. We encourage open discussion, mutual respect, and a culture where all voices are valued, regardless of discipline, background, or stage of study. For the 2025/26 academic year, our focus is on growing and strengthening the society. We warmly welcome ideas and feedback from members to ensure our activities, events, and opportunities reflect the real needs of our community. From workshops and interdisciplinary discussions to social events and collaborations, we want the society to be shaped by and for its members. We also celebrate the diversity and experience of Sheffield Hallam’s researchers and aim to foster a shared sense of identity, whether through academic exchange, peer support, or society initiatives such as merchandise. Membership is free and open to all students on MA, MSc, MRes, MBA, PhD, EdD, and DBA programmes, across all three colleges.
