About Power Gems
For over 30 years, the largest rental companies and motion picture studios worldwide have chosen Power Gems to supply one key element in the lighting system used in film and TV production - the electronic ballast. Power Gems, established in 1991, is the biggest independent designer and manufacturer of HMI ballasts. The lighting equipment uses the latest silicon carbide technology to control the arc in HMI lights, to provide the 'flicker-free' light required for location filming. Not a year goes by without a new addition to the Power Gems family or refresh of the core 20 product lines - many are regarded as workhorses of the industry. Initially developed for use in film and television production, Power Gems have been adapted for new markets: solar simulation, high speed photography and events. For many OEMs we are the preferred supplier, helping to bring their products to market. We recognise an increasing demand in the lighting market as LED efficiency continues to rise, and there is imperative to remove mercury from the system. Our new range of high power LED products for the control market harness our knowledge of very high power fixtures for HMI. As a long-standing manufacturer of flicker-free lighting power supplies, we ensure our LED range meets the same high standards you have come to expect from Power Gems. POWER GEMS Ltd The Power Gems corporate headquarters, located in Fairhills Trade Centre, Irlam, UK, is the primary location for R&D, sales, customer support and all stages of production through to final assembly, testing and packaging. POWER GEMS CORPORATION Our Hollywood facility provides sales and technical support for customers in North America. The wholly-owned subsidiary, Power Gems Corporation, is staffed by factory-trained engineers and carries a large stock of finished product, and original spares for servicing.
