About Powerhouse Holistic Health Education Org.

Powerhouse Holistic Health Education is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to promote a health-conscious lifestyle across children and families among low-income communities. Powerhouse believes physical and mental well-being can be integrated to reduce community health disparities. This will be achieved through a variety of programs utilizing health education, physical activity, mental wellness, and access to community health resources. Low-income communities across Miami-Dade County will reach the capacity to incorporate healthy lifestyle habits into their day-to-day living. By dividing wellness into two components, physical and mental, enables Powerhouse with the opportunity to provide families with the tools and resources to improve their overall well-being. Programs will specifically target the residents of Miami-Dade and Broward County to provide health navigation, nutritional education, physical activity, wellness workshops, and health fairs to encourage optimal health. This enables our organization to address detrimental lifestyle habits that increase the chances of childhood obesity, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic illnesses. Our approach, which emphasizes in preventative health initiatives, will assist the community practice healthier lifestyle habits can achieve optimal wellness. Powerhouse nurtures the idea of wellness being through the practice of good physical, mental and emotional health, especially when maintained by an appropriate diet, exercise, and other lifestyle modifications.
