About Powermaps Tuning
WHAT IS ECU REMAPPING / CHIP TUNING? When manufacturers develop a new vehicle they have to consider all of the conditions it may could be subjected to in all of the regions where it will be sold. This means instead of optimising the ECU (Engine Control Unit) softwatre or ‘map’ to every possible situation or marketplace, they have to make compromises to account for these potential differing operating conditions. These could include sub-standard fuels, extremes in temperature and altitude, regional emissions laws and less than ideal servicing and maintenance, not in accordance with the manufacturers recommended instructions. ECU remapping consists of reading the factory data off ECU’s processor which contains the vehicles standard compromised map and adjusting various parameters within the map such as fuel pressure, boost pressure (on turbocharged applications) ignition advance and throttle pedal control amongst other things to release the true performance and potential that the engine would have originally be designed to produce. Every engine will have its own unique map and by adjusting this we can fine tune the characteristics of your cars engine, releasing more power and in most cases reduce fuel consumption too.
