About PowerWells
PowerWells address the dual global problems of electronic waste and energy poverty by repurposing lithium-ion batteries from e-waste into home solar systems with lights which are deployed to regions without access to electricity. Within Australia, li-ion battery waste grows at over 20% p.a. but only 2% is recycled - CSIRO. Globally, roughly 800 million people don’t have access to electricity - World Bank. PowerWells recovers lithium-ion batteries from old electronics in e-waste, and uses them to build home solar-energy systems, which are deployed to countries and communities that do not have access to electricity and non-polluting lighting. PowerWells also run workshops with Corporates and Schools that give participants hands on experience with building the home solar units and power-banks with lights while learning about sustainably recycling e-waste and repurposing batteries to help address energy poverty. PowerWells Foundation is an ACNC registered charity with DGR 1 status from the ATO meaning all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
