About Practice PC

Practice PC is a 9-month, interprofessional continuing education course in palliative care for practicing clinicians from medicine, nursing, social work, spiritual care, administrators, and any other interested clinicians. Generous tuition assistance is available to enable all eligible clinicians to participate. Full-day sessions meet one Friday per month at the Partnership Health Plan offices, conveniently located between San Francisco and Sacramento, right off of I-80. Carpools can be arranged from Amtrak, BART, Ferry, and other central locations. Registration is now open for Cohort 7, which begins in September 2025! This program is perfect for healthcare professionals looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in palliative care. With a focus on interprofessional collaboration, you'll engage with experts in the field and participate in hands-on workshops. Don't miss this chance to deepen your understanding of palliative care practices and connect with colleagues who share your passion for providing quality care to patients and families coping with serious illness. In addition to VitalTalk-style in-depth communications training, the program covers the core domains of clinical palliative care, including holistic assessment, clinician wellbeing, pain and symptom management, end of life care, ethics, and advance care planning. This program was developed to meet the needs of working professionals from a range of disciplines and work settings throughout Northern California. The in-person format is designed to create a community of practice so alumni can support one another with an interprofessional perspective, regardless of geographic location. We encourage all professionals to apply, including nurses, advanced practice nurses, physicians, chaplains, administrators, community-based clergy, social workers, pharmacists, nursing aides, case managers, psychologists, rehab-therapists, family support coordinators, interpreters, and others.
