And for that we thank you. As a trusted expert in the field of eye care for over 10 years, Dr Garretson has helped thousands of patients to protect their eyesight. In the spring of 2009, he founded Premier Eyecare, with the vision of creating a practice that was centered around providing patients with the best possible eye care experience. Dr. Garretson received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1997. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Davie, Florida in 2004, graduating with honors. After completing his optometric training, Dr. Garretson married his wife Shelly and moved back to Clarkston to begin practicing. Dr. Garretson began his career as an associate in two prominent local ophthalmology clinics. Dr. Garretson has extensive knowledge and experience in the management of ocular disease, cataract and refractive surgery, primary care optometry, and specialty contact lens fitting. Many patients have been referred to Dr. Garretson for his expertise in solving complex contact lens problems; particularly those related to keratoconus, corneal scarring, high astigmatism, and poor refractive surgery (RK/LASIK) outcomes. He also has an intense interest in the field of myopia control and corneal refractive therapy/orthokeratology. Dr. Garretson is an active member of many professional organizations and is a proponent of evidence-based medicine and the importance of continuing education.
