About Preservation Technologies

Preservation Technologies (PTLP) is a company dedicated to helping universities, academic institutions, cultural entities, and private companies preserve and maintain access to their collections. PTLP was founded on the guiding principle of bringing engineering and innovation to the field of cultural preservation. Preservation Technologies successfully developed the patented Bookkeeper® process, which extends the life of books and manuscripts by neutralizing the harmful acids found in paper. Bookkeeper® is the only deacidification method to meet the standards of the Library of Congress as well as current and projected U.S. OSHA, FTC, EPA and E.U. REACH consumer and environmental requirements. Bookkeeper® equipment, products, and services are the international standard for paper deacidification. Having developed a reputation as a worldwide leader in paper preservation, Preservation Technologies was in a unique position to expand its services to help clients preserve other cultural collections. The MediaPreserve was founded in 2006 as a response to this need. It offers studios designed for the transfer of delicate one-off materials and high-capacity multiple ingest of robust formats. All ingest is fully-monitored to ensure the quality of each file produced. We have developed painstaking quality control procedures to guarantee file integrity and have successfully initiated the automation of metadata to accompany these digital files.
