About Prior Collections

PRIOR ART SPACE is a next generation art collector's space based in Berlin and Barcelona founded by Oliver Elst and Laura del Arco. After collecting for years, they realized that art collectors have a responsibility to not only collect works of art if not to support proactively and widely the artists in the collection, as well as the importance of loaning works to institutions and the value of exhibiting the collections publicly. Their drive is to inspire next young generations of collectors and to support artists towards a more unestablished democratized art world, based in the collaborative support and building long lasting close relationships with galleries, artists, curators and collectors for a mutual and common benefit, to share the passion for Art. The aim of our space is to give voice to international artists, who due to social and / or gender conditions have been excluded from the traditional discourse of art history: as women artists; people who are part of the LGTBIQ + group; people from different backgrounds and origins who have not historically had the support and representation in the art world, such as people of Asian, African, African-American or Latin American origin, among others; or artists who deal with controversial issues and taboos that concern today’s society.
