About Projects With Care
Projects With Care collaborates with social service and housing agencies across New York City to deliver personalized, need-based initiatives for children and families facing hardship. Born from the long-running Stockings With Care program, founded in 1992 by Rosalie Joseph and Tom Fontana, we’ve served over 70,000 children through holiday gift drives. Today, our flagship programs include: ProjectFirstDay: Equipping thousands of NYC shelter children annually with new outfits, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies to help them start the year confidently StockingsWithCare: Delivering holiday joy and three heartfelt gifts per child, ensuring parents can take the spotlight while preserving family dignity. ProjectWelcomeHome: Our newest initiative, launched in 2024, supports 100+ survivor-led families each year transitioning from domestic violence shelters by providing essential home items and emotional care. Driven by the belief that every child deserves to feel cherished—and every family deserves to be seen and supported—Projects With Care offers more than material assistance: we restore hope, foster dignity, and create lasting impact in our communities.
