About ProjectSeniorFTD
Project Senior is a 501C3 non-profit organization started in 2023 to honor founder Gary Huether's late father, Gary Huether, Sr., who passed away in 2016 after a harrowing battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). FTD is a brain disorder caused by degeneration of the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain, which affects behavior, movement, and language, and leads to an overall functional decline. FTD is the most common form of dementia for people under 60 years old, and there is currently no treatment or cure available, which is why Project Senior is making it its mission to raise funds for Johns Hopkins Alzheimer's Research Center to support research projects focused on FTD. This program is important to our mission because Gary Sr. was an eligible candidate for trial research that concentrated on pausing the progression of the disease to improve his quality of life and keep him with us longer. Unfortunately he passed away before he could participate in this groundbreaking study. Our goal is to support this study and other research to give families the same opportunity with their loved ones that Gary unfortunately could not have with his Dad.
