About PsyCare Ireland: Welfare and Harm Reduction CLG

PsyCare Ireland: Harm Reduction and Welfare is an Irish-based Social Enterprise whose mission is to support members of the Irish public at music events and festivals who may be experiencing difficult psychological experiences or difficult drug induced experiences. Our focus is on preserving and protecting the mental and physical health of the concert going public. Our main methods for achieving this in particular but not exclusively are (a) the provision of music event welfare services, (b) the provision of non-judgemental harm reduction information and advice and (c) the provision of crisis intervention services. Our subsidiary aim is to advance the education of the public in harm reduction and crisis intervention services by (a) the provision of information and advice and (b) the provision of lectures and fora. For the purpose of this clause, ‘harm reduction’ means policies, programmes and practices that aim primarily to reduce the adverse health, social and economic consequences of the use of legal and illegal psychoactive substances. ‘Crisis Intervention’ means emergency psychological care aimed at assisting individuals in a crisis situation to restore equilibrium to their biopsychosocial functioning and to minimise the potential for psychological trauma.
