About Pueblo Science

The lack of basic education – especially in science, engineering and technology – contributes to poor industrial productivity, high unemployment rates, unsustainable farming practices, and pollution. These problems are particularly evident in remote villages across the developing world. Founded in 2010, Pueblo Science is a registered non-profit organization working to promote science literacy in underprivileged communities in the developing world. We aim to empower local populations to create innovations for themselves rather than rely on external sources of ideas, and the method to accomplish this is experiential science education for youth. Our team members are scientists and engineers with advanced degrees from U of T who are passionate about providing equal access to science for all youth. Using our expertise, we develop teaching kits that maximize a child’s learning and enjoyment of science. Pueblo's innovative kits simplify complex concepts and theories to an age-appropriate level. All activities are based on low-cost materials and concepts relevant to daily life. We also run an outreach program to train instructors in the use of these kits in their own classrooms. The emphasis on exploration and hands-on discovery appeals to the fundamental curiosity in young students. Sparking a child’s interest in science and technology at such a young age leaves them better equipped to deal with a society that is increasingly technology and innovation-driven.
