About Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration
The Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA) was created by Law 77 on June 19th, 1979. The mission of PRFAA is to advance the interests of the Government of Puerto Rico before federal, state, and local governments. The PRFAA team is one that is focused on promoting the Government of Puerto Rico’s economic and public policy initiatives to achieve a better quality of life for the people living on the Island. In carrying out its responsibilities, PRFAA works closely with federal agencies, the White House, and U.S. Congress. PRFAA roles and responsibilities are: o Advocating on behalf of Puerto Rico-related policy positions to before members of Congress and their staff, the White House, federal agencies, state offices, and national organizations. o Collaborating with the Resident Commissioner to assist her as she represents in Congress the 3.2 million U.S. citizens of Puerto Rico. o Serving as a primary focal point in the nation’s capital for the Governor Hon. Pedro R. Pierluisi, and senior state officials. o Providing guidance and support to individuals, local businesses, municipalities, and other organizations in successfully navigating the federal government. o Providing status reports to the Governor on federal initiatives impacting Puerto Rico. o Communicating with national, regional, and specialty media on issues of importance to the Governor and Puerto Rico. Currently, PRFAA has two (2) offices, one located in Washington, D.C., and a regional office in Orlando, Florida. The goal of both the Washington, D.C. and the Orlando office is to serve as a bridge between the Island and the Mainland. Nonetheless, the PRFAA Regional office in Orlando dedicates to the task of helping the Puerto Rican community living in the U.S. by assisting them in accessing essential services in Florida.
