About Quality Drafting
About Quality Drafting Our office is located in Lufkin, Texas. We have a total of 7 detailers/checkers and do all detailing in our Lufkin office. We are well versed in commercial (steel and concrete structures) and industrial projects, including all structural framing, stairs, rails, embeds and miscellaneous. We are members of AISC and TSSI (Texas Structural Steel Institute). All our work is modeled and detailed using SDS2 software which allows us to provide any fabrication files needed (CNC, DXF, BIF, KSS, EJE, etc.) We do not sub-out any projects we are awarded so that we can keep the accuracy up to our high standards. All work is detailing and checked in our Lufkin, Texas office. We are experts in BIM (Building Information Modeling) coordination and bring a team mentality to all our projects. I personally have been detailing\checking steel since 1990. Started out in the industrial side of detailing at Kelley Frazier Engineers. I have detailed everything from small styles and ladders to large structures and circular platforms. I did that from 1990 to 2008. In 2008 I started at Quality Drafting, Inc in the commercial side of detailing and project managing. I have detailed everything from large tilt-up panel structures to all steel schools to complex steel and concrete hospitals and skyscrapers. Last year I purchased Quality Drafting from the original owner Wesley Shanklin when he decided to retire. Under my leadership, Quality Drafting has continued to grow and develop real steel detailers, not just program operators. Here at Quality Drafting, we train our detailers, checkers, and project managers to understand the nuances of the steel industry. We don’t just teach them how to operate our software (SDS/2) but teach all aspects of steel detailing including the building and safety codes required for items such as ladders, stairs, railings, etc. It is our goal to ensure our clients receive quality details on every project, every time.
