Angela Leek, PhD, CHP, launched Quantum Radiation Solutions after more than 20 years in the radiation protection field—including a decade leading Iowa’s Radiation Control Program at the Department of Health and Human Services. In that role, she oversaw statewide regulatory programs, radiation safety initiatives, and emergency preparedness efforts, while also representing Iowa at the national level with organizations such as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Organization of Agreement States. Her work provided deep insight into the day-to-day demands placed on radiation programs and the importance of balancing technical accuracy with operational needs. Over the course of her career, Angela recognized that many programs faced persistent challenges: difficulty retaining technical expertise, limited capacity to take on new initiatives, and high staff turnover. Often, agencies needed short-term help or strategic guidance—but had few resources to turn to for support that was both credible and immediately useful.
