Quatern Advisory Services is a quality driven management consultancy focussed on the commercial aspects of technical complex projects with its associated challenges. The managing director, who is also one of the founders of Quatern Advisory Services, discovered through his career as an engineer and management consultant that there is a significant communication gap between engineers and commercial experts. Despite these parties talking about the same issues, the terminological barrier brought about by the terminology used in their respective disciplines led to a semantic impasse. A market niche of bridging this barrier and resolving the challenge of semantics led to the birth of Quatern Advisory Services. Our focus lies in conducting the commercial engineering of feasibility and due diligence studies whilst contracting technical partners to do the design and cost-engineering components of these studies. The separation of duties enables us to be unbiased and effective in the results we provide and allows us the flexibility of taking medium scale to a very large scale projects such as the opening of mines, development and construction of rail lines, power plants, etc. Quatern Advisory Services is a member of the KV3 Group of Companies which is the largest black-owned engineering consultancy in South Africa with a wide variety of professional engineers and professionally registered project managers. KV3 was founded in 1977 and has over 600 staff across Africa and the Middle East. KV3 is actively involved in social development programmes through the Chairman’s Fund which is the largest engineers’ bursary scheme in South Africa. Quatern is strongly focussed on quality and excellence and is in the process of obtaining ISO 9001:2000 certification.
