About Queen's Relay for Life

Queen’s Relay for Life is one of the many Relay for Life events that occur annually throughout Canada in order to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. The event funds research projects provides support services for cancer patients and their loved ones and creates awareness campaigns about cancer prevention and general health. The Canadian Cancer Society’s mission is to eradicate cancer and improve the quality of life of people living with cancer, and Queen's Relay for Life stands by their vision of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. Relay for Life is a twelve-hour, overnight non-competitive relay where teams of students get together and fundraise to support the Canadian Cancer Society. They then participate in a night filled with musical performances, team challenges and fun activities as they take turns walking around a track. At midnight, participants come together for the touching and emotional Luminary ceremony where everyone takes the time to remember those affected by cancer. Throughout the night, participants continue to support each other all the way till dawn when they leave the relay inspired to fight for a future free of cancer.
