About Queensland Justices Association

Founded in 1918, the Queensland Justices Association (QJA) is the state’s leading non-profit, member-based organisation supporting Justices of the Peace (JPs) and Commissioners for Declarations (Cdecs). For more than a century, QJA has been the pre-eminent voice for Queensland’s honorary justices. Our mission is to be a centre of excellence through leadership, professional development, and advocacy – ensuring our members are supported to serve their communities with confidence and integrity. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 31906), QJA is Queensland’s largest provider of JP and Cdec training. Our trainers are not only accredited educators but also active honorary justices and long-standing QJA members, bringing real-world experience and insight into every course. Thousands of Queenslanders have started their journey to becoming a JP or Cdec through QJA training. Membership with QJA provides: Access to high-quality training, workshops, and conferences. Ongoing professional support, mentoring, and resources. Opportunities to serve at signing centres in shopping centres, libraries, and courthouses across Queensland. Advocacy on behalf of JPs and Cdecs, working closely with the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. A strong professional network to connect, learn, and share best practice. QJA is proudly independent of government and business funding, enabling us to stand for the values of integrity, honour, and respect in all we do. Our Patron is the Honourable Catherine Holmes, Chief Justice of Queensland. 🌐 Learn more: www.qja.com.au
