About Raphael's Bakery
Raphaël Dequeker is originally from Brittany in France. He is the 3rd generation "Pâtissier / Boulanger" in his family. His experience in the kitchen started at a very young age. His earliest memory in the kitchen was him cutting strawberries in the kitchen of his parent's shop. At the age of 16, he began an apprenticeship at a "Maitre Chocolatier" in Paris He mastered his craft working with highly talented and world-renowned Chefs and Pastry Chefs (Alain Ducasse, Pierre Hermé...) in some of France’s most famous restaurants and pastry shops (Le Louis XV in Monaco, Ladurée in Paris...). 18 years ago, Raphaël, along with his wife Charlotte and their three children, moved to Greenwich and became the Head Pastry Chef at Valbella. Raphaël has earned the reputation of being a hard worker and making delicious desserts. Also known for his outgoing personality, kindness, and French accent, Raphaël is excited for the opportunity to interact more with his clients. What you will taste at Raphaël's Bakery is the product of passion, fine ingredients, hard work, and a lifetime of experience. Everything is baked on-site. In the kitchen, you can see Raphael and his apprentice turned Master Baker, Agon, constantly working on ensuring there is enough bread to satisfy the huge demand that has been created since opening. Alongside Raphael, you will find his three sons, Kelian, Bastian, and Gerald working the counter and making all customers feel at home. His wife Charlotte plays a huge part in all operational affairs as well as helping to work the counter as well. Their Grandma, and Charlotte's Mother, Helene is in charge of making all the delicious sandwiches that are made on our fresh baguettes. Bon appétit!
